 Gianna Beretta Molla was an Italian pediatrician. Gianna dedicated herself to charitable work and threw herself into organizations like Catholic Action, making her a name for Catholic social action alongside such figures like Dorothy Day and Mother Teresa. A mother of four and a doctor with strong life convictions, Molla gave her life in the belief and conviction that her life was no greater than the child growing inside her. Her daughter Gianna Emanuela is today a doctor in geriatrics. Gianna, who was canonized in 2004 in the Catholic Church, today serves as a symbol for the Catholic (and non-Catholic) pro-life movement. A woman of compassion and conviction.
